Growing
Mini cos lettuce does well on medium-heavy, humus-rich soils with balanced water levels. Sunny locations are preferred. The plant should not be planted too deep and should be watered in sufficiently. The market is served by domestic products from May to October, and imported goods from November to April.
Nutrients
The key nutrients in mini cos lettuce are protein, the minerals potassium and calcium, provitamin A, and vitamins B1, B2 and C.
Preparation
Weighing just 200 g, the handy heads are ideal for small households. They are sold without the surrounding leaves and are therefore all but ready to eat – it couldn't be more practical. Once the remainder of the stalk has been removed and the head sliced, the mini cos lettuce can be prepared as a fresh salad with the usual savoury dressings.
Storage/preservation
Mini cos lettuce can be kept for up to a week in the vegetable drawer of a fridge.
