Growing
Baby leaf consists of high-quality leaf and curled lettuce. It prefers a sunny spot and needs regular watering. Baby leaf is sown from March to September. The sowing depth should be 1-2 cm and the plants should be spaced 3-5 cm apart. The young leaves can be harvested after around 7 weeks, when they are around 15 cm long.
Nutrients
The young leaves are rich in vitamins A, B1, B2, C and E. They also contain iron and protein.
Preparation
Baby leaf is suitable on its own with a delicious dressing, or as an ingredient in a mixed salad. The leaves must be washed thoroughly before eating.
Storage/preservation
Baby leaf should be eaten as fresh as possible. If necessary, it can be kept fresh in the fridge for two days.
