Baby leaf consists of high-quality leaf and curled lettuce. It prefers a sunny spot and needs regular watering. Baby leaf is sown from March to September. The sowing depth should be 1-2 cm and the plants should be spaced 3-5 cm apart. The young leaves can be harvested after around 7 weeks, when they are around 15 cm long.
The young leaves are rich in vitamins A, B1, B2, C and E. They also contain iron and protein.
Baby leaf is suitable on its own with a delicious dressing, or as an ingredient in a mixed salad. The leaves must be washed thoroughly before eating.
Baby leaf should be eaten as fresh as possible. If necessary, it can be kept fresh in the fridge for two days.
